It's been awhile since we've sent out a newsletter, but not for lack of news. We've just had our hands full with a bunch of great projects. So here's the latest--and not so latest--from Eduweb. And there's more to come later this year!
Eduweb Named a Landmark Site for Teaching and Learning

The American Association of School Librarians (AASL) has named our own Web site, eduweb.com, one of twenty-one "Landmark Websites for Teaching and Learning."
AASL, a division of the American Library Association (ALA), chose these sites for "their exemplary histories of authoritative, dynamic content and curricular relevance." While it's rather dizzying to be in such rarified company as NASA, PBS, MIT, the Smithsonian, and the Library of Congress, it's only because of the terrific organizations that we've had the privilege to work with over the years. AASL will be promoting these Landmark Websites to librarians and educators over the next year, expanding the reach of our clients' projects.
Award-Winning Projects

Our 3D learning game WolfQuest won several awards this year:
- Bronze MUSE Award at the American Association of Museum's MUSE Awards in May. Judges called it "an exemplary educational resource for learning about history through storytelling."
- Editor's Choice Award from Children's Technology Review, which said WolfQuest "is exactly the type of software that is transforming the school curriuclum."
Betwixt Folly and Fate, a learning game that we developed with Colonial Williamsburg last year, won an Award of Excellence in the Interactive: Gaming category at the 15th annual Communicator Awards. In addition, Colonial Williamsburg's Electronic Field Trip program won several Communicator awards in the Education category. Eduweb develops the online learning interactives for these programs.
Into the Book, a reading and literacy Web site that we developed with Wisconsin's Educational Communications Award, won the 2009 Interactive Media Award from the National Educational Telecommunications Association (NETA).
New Learning Game: Dirty Bomb! After the Blast

University of Minnesota - Center for Public Health Education and Outreach
A dirty bomb explosion shocks a small city, sending public health emergency responders into action. Are you up for the challenge? This role-play simulation is designed to train public health workers, volunteers, students, and anyone else who may respond to such an emergency.
In this online simulation, you must complete three missions:
- Decontamination: Set up and conduct a radiological decontamination for a group of people who were near the blast.
- Operational Sites: Determine where the Mass Fatalities Operational Sites will be located and advise their operation during the response.
- Community Assistance Center: Set up a Community Assistance Center to provide services to the members of the community as they struggle to recover.
Eduweb's role: Interactivity design, visual design, 3D and Flash programming and production.
Note: This simulation requires a login. You are welcome to create your own, or you can use our generic login:
