Chapter Five: Titian

Titian. An oldie but a goodie in my book. He was so respected in the 1500's that Emperor Charles V once picked up a brush Titian had dropped--and royalty rarely stoops for anyone. Titian was also the clever fellow who made it popular to paint on canvas instead of wood panels.

"I've got a reproduction of a Titian painting here in my drawer," I told Miss Featherduster. "What do you say we compare it with your mystery painting?"

I looked up at her. "After comparing these two paintings," I told her, "I'd say that...

...you could be the proud owner of a Titian."

...your painting is clearly not by Titian."
