You chose to replant on the same field that you used this year. In some places in the Amazon, you can use the same field for several years. But here in the Ecuadorian Amazon, your crops won't produce very well after the first year.

It's best to rotate your crops every year. By letting a field lay fallow for a while, you allow new vegetation to grow there. When you to return to clear this field, this vegetation will give valuable nutrients to the soil.
