"Like the Impressionists," Trish explained, "our artist often put pure colors directly on his canvas, mixing them with his rapid brushstrokes. Unlike the Impressionists, he eventually abandoned natural colors in order to express himself freely."

Trish nodded. "Of course, color's only half the story. Have we looked at brushstrokes yet? Or do you want to learn about other aspects this painting? Or are you feeling cocky and want to try to get out?"
