A. Pintura: Art Detective Chapter Three: The Mystery Painting

I looked the photo over. I wished she'd brought the painting itself. Was it made on canvas or wood? Was the paint acrylic or oil? People say photos never lie, but they can keep a bagful of secrets.

So to identify Miss Featherduster's painting, I would have to rely on my knowledge of subject, composition and style. I looked at the painting. I had some suspicions about what it might be, but I kept them to myself. She was paying me by the hour.

"Tell me about grandpa's collection," I said.
