Trish shook her head. "Van Gogh was inspired by Impressionists like Claude Monet, who painted this scene of Antibes. Monet was so interested in capturing the changing light of the day that he often painted the same scene over and over --sometimes up to 40 times. "When you go out to paint, try to forget what objects
you have before you, a tree, a house, a field, whatever. Merely think: there
is a little square of blue, here an oblong of pink, here a streak of yellow,
and paint it just as it looks to you..." Trish added, "Van Gogh got some of his ideas about color from the Impressionists, but he wanted to use color to express himself rather than just record an impression of the scene." | |
